Comprising over 3,500 microscope slides, this sculpture is more than an artistic endeavor; it is my personal confession, offering an intimate look into the complexities of caring for a loved one grappling with co-occurring mental health diagnoses and substance use disorder. Each slide tells a story, depicting the challenges faced while navigating the intricate systems related to homelessness, addiction, incarceration, and mental health.
The microscope slides, meticulously arranged, symbolize the connection between the realms of addiction and mental health—a bridge between biology and psychology.
